It’s not just remote places that can get evacuated.
I don’t live in the north, don’t own a car, and don’t worry about it, but if something catastrophic were to happen here, I hope there would be options for the many non-car-having people.

This reminds me of watching a Vietnamese YouTuber talking about getting through a major typhoon. I don’t think they explained how the buses were organized, but there were buses.
I almost have the proper gear for this… I’m sure I could make it work in an emergency. A good contingency idea. I think I’ve done about 80k in a day before, and it wasn’t particularly strenuous… you can cover a lot of ground on a bike if you just keep going.
What do people who don’t own cars do in this scenario?
This makes me think of movies, the scenes when like Godzilla or the stay puft marshmallow man or something shows up and everyone just gets out of their cars and runs away on foot. Movies are silly but in a panic scenario the car could easily become more of a hindrance than anything.
Pedantry, of course. Call it a terrorist state if you must, it changes nothing.
This definition fits israel just as well or better, do you typically refer to it as a terror org?
That’s not why you don’t have universal healthcare.
Go Houthis! Woooo 🇾🇪🔥😸🎉
That’s rad.
One time the Canada day fireworks were cancelled because it was too windy, so instead I just watched the seagulls. I swear they were playing in the wind, a bunch were going around a loop, catching the wind and getting carried up over a hill, then looping back around and gliding back to the bottom of the hill to go again. It looked like fun.
Conservatism protects power where it exists now. You fundamentally can’t do that and be honest about it and maintain some form legitimacy in an ostensibly democratic system.
If you say “we love billionaires because they give us fat cheques, also we’re cutting your services because the billionaires don’t like taxes” you don’t get votes. So you have to drop one of those three things, and of course “be honest about it” is the easiest one to go without.
This is a really big part of the problem, I think. Politicians on the “left” tend to be actually just more moderate right wingers, or unable to accomplish much of anything meaningful.
It’s much the same in Canada too, our Liberal party is supposed to be the mainstream “left” option but they’re just doing moderate right politics with pride flags.
Then there’s the NDP which actually has some leftist elements, and I’m grateful to have a meaningful 3rd party, but they’ve still never formed government at the federal level.
And we’ve ingested so much cold war propaganda that if you just say “socialist” people start getting freaked out.
Have you been listening to the Falun Gong? This comment is bananas.
Believe it or not, sometimes real people actually disagree with you. It must be difficult to imagine independent thoughts that don’t align with the narrative you follow, but they exist.
Yup 🙃
That propaganda must be tasty, they sure do gulp it down.
China is threatening US global dominance and the US is freaked out and very motivated to cast suspicion on anything Chinese. Remember that “spy balloon” that turned out to be a nothing burger? I wouldn’t pay attention to anything so insubstantial as “fears raised”. That’s all they’re doing - raising fear.
The cartoonist saw it coming.
In Canada there’s https://parkbus.ca/ which serves some parks from major cities.
Tons of young male characters are voiced by women. I’m curious which anime you’re referring to though.
