      And the alternative is having people who don’t know shit about fuck making decisions potentially based on their own interests.

        Independent experts that at least somehow try to be neutral. And politicians who have to reason their decisions.

          A couple off the top of my head:

          • Chemical Safety Board (check out their YouTube channel)
          • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
          • National Fire Protection Association

          All are subject matter experts that contribute to laws and policy decisions to varying degrees.
