  • Neoliberalism (what Regean spearheaded) crushes the common man and its widespread embrace has deprived people of the ability to hope for stuff like a house or the ability to afford a family. People are struggling and want change - centrists are failing to deliver that.

One thing to observe is that in areas where true left wing governments hold sway (like Spain) they’re thriving. But yeah, disappointing centrists marauding as liberals (like Starmer) underdeliver and then get extremist right wingers elected.

If this is America/Canada while it could be carrying more people the sad truth is that it’s probably carrying half a dozen people because it’s likely going from one unwalkable neighborhood to another. Especially up here in BC there’s a stark difference between downtown buses running between unis, skytrain and the dense core of Vancouver to the ones you’ll see in a suburban hell like Burnaby.

  • I hate the title phrasing - it shouldn’t bring anyone relief it should bring anxiety that they did as well as they did. The SPD needs to push hard on progressive policies that will actually improve people’s daily life or more folks will become disenchanted and embrace racist extremist parties. When people are struggling they seek change and the extremes always offer that change in abundance.

This performance from the AfD wasn’t a bunch of skin heads - they’d still be at ~3% if it was just the hardcore assholes - this is regular folks seeking economic relief.
