I mean US spent trillions in Iraq, more spending doesn’t mean more effective.

I just consider any comment after Jun 2023 to be compromised. Anyone who stayed after that date either doesn’t have a clue, or is sponsored content.
What the heck is sicko mode and making hay?
until Israel bombs them back and starts a new war
It is highly likely that exactly zero Russias nukes work. Nuclear maintenance is extremely expensive, and there is a zero percent chance that corruption that we witnessed in tank maintenance and other areas of their military did not spread to their nuclear program. It has also been 34 years since they successful a launched a nuke.
Russia as a country has never launched a nuke (USSR did) so it’s seriously debatable if they even have the capability.
And I’m not advocating for war, but Russia needs to have consequences for their actions, and the world needs to respond resolutely and immediately before this gets any worse.

very deceptive title from the source author. OP please insert [, the privacy partner, Onerep’s ] in place of “its” to make it clear Mozilla didn’t do anything wrong here.
Mozilla could do something wrong, but I entirely read this as Mozilla’s CEO had ties to data brokers and ditched Mozilla’s privacy partner because of that.
That’s all well and good, but I just don’t understand. Can you rephrase that in how it relates to an Olympic size swimming pool?
All of those problems are because of political corruption, not raw money in/out. The US spends 3.5% of GDP on military, a lot, but not the most. Ranked #10 globally for military spending per GDP. Russia spends more than the US.
US is not Rome, at least not yet, or anytime in the immediate future.
for better or worse LW is the largest instance, so joining another instance always poses the ‘risk’ of being defederated.
the federation model definitely has some weaknesses
Yes I know a lot of people on .ml are not tankies but .ml admin is repeatedly banning anti tankie discussion. See my other comment above. Look at the modlogs and you’ll find people being banned for critical thinking. I blocked the instance because Lemmy <> lemmy.ml . The code can always be forked.
User accounts can be migrated to new instances with version 19
I’ve seen multiple posts from people who were banned from .ml and I looked at the removed comments and modlog myself, and people are being banned for even mild general discussion of topics debating the legitimacy of totalitarian communist policy.
.ml is terrible. They actively ban people who aren’t tankies. Reasonable discussion is not allowed there. If there is one instance that should be defederated it is .ml
It’s no covert secret that Russia benefits from chaos in Israel/Gaza. Russia is 100% amplifying the coverage of the conflict to their benefit.
I never said the bill was perfect. It is a good first step. Ideally all social media should be held accountable, but they are the ones who make political donations, so the chances of major overhaul are not all that great.
They want to ban Chinese ownership of the company because it’s politically popular, but it does also have merit. China can and will exert it’s influence to it’s advantage.
Tiktok might be a good service right now (…debatable) but it’s threat comes from being able to push it’s authoritarian agenda.
And insults have no place in reasonable discussion. Who’s mind are you going to change by calling them insane?
The ban is a good thing because China is an autocracy. Freedom of thought is not acceptable there, otherwise you wouldn’t know what I mean when I say the great firewall of China. Their influence is already vast.
The US isn’t a beacon of democracy, but the distance between a flawed democracy and an authoritarian regime is massive. The US Congress is largely ineffective, but this is one thing they’ve gotten right.
TikTok, the popular Chinese-owned social network, instructs its moderators to censor videos that mention Tiananmen Square, Tibetan independence, or the banned religious group Falun Gong, according to leaked documents detailing the site’s moderation guidelines.
lol
I believe they do use just as much RAM as current tabs, it’s just computers are better at handling it now.
Mozilla makes reference to them eating RAM, but I’m not 100% sure.
Use fewer tabs
Each tab requires Firefox to store a web page in memory. If you frequently have more than 100 tabs open, consider using a more lightweight mechanism to keep track of pages to read and things to do, such as:
Bookmarks. Hint: “Bookmark All Tabs” will bookmark a set of tabs. Save web pages for later with Pocket for Firefox. To-do list applications.

On a small scale yeah. The sun heats rocks and they’re able to store heat for up to an hour or so. Cats can attest to that.
Same with large bodies of water; the ocean, lakes, pools, etc.
