I guess I’m just looking at it from a different scale. The oppression of women (and every other person not a cis straight male) has been so much worse for all of human history and has only recently—relatively speaking—been pushed back the smallest little bit. These people have always been here and they’ve been fighting that progress every step of the way. The right never stopped fighting to overturn Roe v Wade, I heard it my whole life. Just because they lost ground doesn’t mean they stopped pushing. If there’s woodwork that they’re coming out of, you must have put it up around yourself and now you’re seeing what the rest of us have been dealing with the whole time.

Maybe you just weren’t paying attention before, because Christianity has been a major driving force for patriarchy and gender inequality for millenia, literally thousands of years. It’s actually only gotten the tiniest bit better in the last 60 or so.
