While this is true, the fact that war would be a bad idea doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t happen. People make bad decisions all the time.
it does seem excessively lurid to suggest, without direct evidence, that they have been raped in captivity for the past several months
But you’re just going to do it anyway?
Anyone remember when they said Putin would never invade Ukraine just because it would be a terrible idea? Turns out politicians make terrible decisions on occasion. We’ll see what happens here.
“IDF said”
Yes, and the latest version, too. Silly me assuming the version on GoG would be kept up to date…thankfully I didn’t lose too much time.
I’m trying to get into Daggerfall. I probably wouldn’t have got past character creation without a guide, and I died an embarrassing number of times in the intro dungeon, but once I got to town and figured out how to pick up quests things started to come together. We’ll see how far I get.
“UNRWA should continue to exist but it shouldn’t have any funding.” Such bullshit. These people are despicable, and that includes those in other governments who made the decision to withdraw their support.

I played it years ago when it came out and it’s still really good. It’s an indie grand strategy game with low production values but a game play loop I find very satisfying. The fact that it’s played on a realistic map of ancient Greece adds a lot of flavor and I love how the geography actually has important implications for strategy.
Giving a for-profit corporation direct access to your brain sounds like a great idea with no downsides whatsoever. I love the thought of worrying about my brain implant having a glitch or facing planned obsolescence.
Edit: OH God I actually read the article and this thing connects to exterior devices. Imagine your brain literally being hacked.
To be specific, this is a pilot program, with the full launch coming later.
I am pretty skeptical of that number. As of a month ago, even the Russians were ‘only’ claiming to have inflicted 383 thousand casualties (https://tass.com/defense/1723781), which we can take as an upper bound on the reasonable estimates.
Nothing to see here, folks, just Elon Musk, business genius at work.
At this point Putin’s goal is pure personal survival. He needs to not lose the war because that would make him look weak, which is very dangerous for a dictator. To keep himself alive and in power he is willing to throw any amount of Russian soldiers into the meat grinder.
