I dislike the idea that we spend so much effort trying to hide our humanity in these. Turning it so corporate clean and inhuman that its barely useful.

Yeah, yeah, like most people I also don’t like that they are created from stolen content. But ALOT of people seems to hate LLM with a passion just because its trendy, with very little thought to that its just a tool, and it cannot be uninvented.

But having to find and pay each content creator is only an option for bigger corporations, of course. And a lot of work. If they wanted to do it legally and morally right, they would use only stuff that has fallen out of copyright. And we would have an autocompleter that spoke like a 1900 roman character. Wouldn’t work. Its sad that copyright lasts this long. That we can’t use more current content more freely for anything like the new inventions like LLMs, or for other kinds of research, or for making museums, or archive old games in a usable state. People do it, of course, and its sad seeing them occasionally taken down for their hard work just because the content isn’t authors death plus 70 years old.

Easy, you just name them after whatevers distinguish that bee. Like if the bee only can see on four of his five eyes, you naturally call him Foureye.

Yeah, theres a very good reason I dont use Spotify anymore. Not any music streaming services at all. Only good ol’ reliable mp3s. Their idea of “service” is to silently remove songs from my playlists as their licenses expire, and then top it by replacing “Hotel California” with the WORST cover song I’ve ever heard.

Imagine if Sony stopped selling on Steam, and Steam in response silently replaced my “Days Gone” game with “The Day Before”? I would have been so pissed. But with music it seems that is totally okay.

Once. It’ll better be one hell of an ad because it will lose them my subscription. I stopped watching television back in the late 90s because of all the ads, before even I had internet to watch pirated media. I don’t wear clothes with too visible logos. Just saying to illustrate how this ain’t an empty threat.

You’ve never encountered the dark pattern choice in modern software where you want to say “No” but theres no such option? And the software keeps asking you occasionally? Windows got a lot of them. Lately they’ve been trying to get me to move my documents folder to onedrive, and they change the wording and button position every time they ask. Neither choice is “No”. Phone social apps often have “Invite friends” or “Import contacts”, and “Maybe later” instead of “No”. Cookie consent rarely has a straight “No” button either even though they should.

• You arent allowed to bring any food home. In fact the server stays by your table, uncomfortable close, and watches you to make sure none of the food you’ve already paid for is “stolen”.
• The restaurant reserves the right to ban anyone not following rules. They do not need to tell you which rule you broke. Also the rules are secret. They frequently brag to media about how many “rule-breakers” they’ve banned.

They can. But theres a reasonable level of trust that a security feed has been kept secure and not tampered with by the owner if he doesnt have a motive. But what if not even the owner know that somewhere in their tech chain, maybe the camera, maybe the screen, maybe the storage device, maybe all 3, the image was “improved”. No evidence of tampering. We’ll have the police blaming Count Rugen for a bank robbery he didnt do, but the camera clearly shows a six fingered man!

How long until we got upscalers of various sorts built into tech that shouldn’t have it? For bandwidth reduction, for storage compression, or cost savings. Can we trust what we capture with a digital camera, when companies replace a low quality image of the moon with a professionally taken picture, at capture time? Can sport replays be trusted when the ball is upscaled inside the judges’ screens? Cheap security cams with “enhanced night vision” might get somebody jailed.

I love the AI tech. But its future worries me.

Would be nice if every game publisher was required to contribute a version of their game, that can be played without an external network or license, to the country’s main library. For cultural safe-keeping. I know at least one country does that for books.

Humans become dangerously inventive and resourceful in guerilla warfare. Its fun (and sometimes horrifying) reading old booby trap recipes that was shared around by Milorg here in Norway during WW2.

Half tempted to love any gamedev company that promises to keep making singleplayer games, that can be played offline, without microtransactions and battlepasses. It would take more than a few botched game launches to make me give up on them.

Jup, useless folder. There’s one related thing I’ve complained a lot about lately, so I’m gonna complain some more about it:

Microsoft got this “great” idea of trying to repeatedly trick me into uploading that Documents folder to the cloud. A folder filled with GBytes of Battlefield and Assassins Creed cache files, Starfield mods, MS database files, etc… A lot of files that are in constant change, or locked the entire session. Annoying as hell. I love Onedrive, but I dont know why its so damn important for them to have those files.

Sometimes I really wish I could switch to some Linux distro instead.

Damn I’ve always wanted Windows to have that. Being able to put user folders on another partition, or even another drive, at install time. And being able to use “dynamic disk” (aka software raid) to expand partitions across disks as storage requirements grow. I know it is possible to setup, but with a lot of workarounds and annoying problems.
